Al-Mustaqbal to publish exclusively online
BEIRUT: Daily newspaper Al-Mustaqbal will stop printing and begin publishing exclusively online effective Feb. 1, the outlet’s management announced in a statement Thursday. The move comes following “the transformations to the press industry witnessed in Lebanon and worldwide,” and “the decline in sales and revenue,” the statement said. Al-Mustaqbal was founded by late former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri in 1999. A number of Lebanon’s newspapers have closed their doors in recent years due to financial difficulties, including Al-Anwar in September, the Lebanon office of pan-Arab newspaper Al-Hayat in June and As-Safir in March 2016.
