Geagea: Lebanon must be part of Arab Spring

MAARAB, Lebanon: Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea said over the weekend that Lebanon cannot remain on the sidelines of the Arab Spring if it wants to be part of history. Speaking during a workshop on “Lebanon’s role in the renaissance of the new Arab world,” Geagea said changes “will have a large impact on the region’s future. We cannot under any pretext stand on the sidelines ... otherwise we will remain outside of history.” He added that everyone has a responsibility to preserve the Arab Spring since any event that tarnishes it “will destroy any hope for freedom, democracy, and a state of law in the Middle East.”
