| | Seven mass graves found in Syria's Albukamal: SANA | BEIRUT: Seven mass graves containing hundreds of unidentified bodies have been found in the Albukamal area of the Deir al-Zor countryside in Syria, Syrian state news agency SANA said late Tuesday.
Civil Defense teams and the Syrian Arab Red Crescent have recovered 101 bodies, and many appeared to have been tortured and abused before being killed, SANA said.
Work to retrieve more bodies was ongoing.
Once the heart of Daesh’s (ISIS) self-styled “caliphate,” Syrian government forces retook Albukamal last year. |
