BEIRUT: The Labor Ministry's website remained inoperable Wednesday,  a day after Raise Your Voice hacked the portal, replacing the homepage with their signature graphic and allowing visitors to vent anger at the government.
 
Raise Your Voice, the group that last month claimed allegiance to the worldwide Anonymous in a YouTube video, hacked the ministry’s site Tuesday on the occasion of Labor Day. 
 
 
"We will not be silenced and brainwashed by your media. We will not stop until the Lebanese people mobilize, demand their rights, and earn them," their familiar message read. 
 
 
Visitors to the site were also greeted by their signature caricature of an oversized official, representing “the government,” being spoon-fed by a skinny, bare-chested man, representing “the people.”
 
 
The caricature is flanked on the left by a candle, representing the country’s endemic electricity shortages, and on the right a picture of bread.
 
 
Last month, the group repeatedly hacked 16 Lebanese government and security-related websites. Visitors to the sites like that of the police and State Security as well as ministry websites and that of the president were confronted with a message similar to Tuesday’s hacking message.
 
 
"We will not stop until this government's self-made problems are solved, like the power shortage, water shortage, rise in gas prices and rise in food product prices," their statement reads.
 
 
At the bottom of their familiar message, the hackers gave space for people to type their comments.
 
 
Some 296 comments were left on the site, most of which slammed the government over gasoline prices, the reduction of the standard bundle of bread by 100 grams while maintaining its price and the like.
