Hassan issues security measures for Tripoli by-election
BEIRUT: Lebanon's Central Security Council Tuesday issued security measures for this month’s by-election in Tripoli, which will fall on Palm Sunday, according to a statement released by the Interior Ministry.

The council’s head, Interior Minister Raya El Hassan, emphasized the need for “additional security measures” given that the election coincided with Western Christianity's Palm Sunday.

Hassan said the by-election and the national holiday would increase traffic, necessitating increased traffic control efforts in areas prone to congestion.

She gave orders to combat “any form of bribery related to the electoral process” through continued coordination between all military and security services represented in the Central Security Council.

The meeting followed a series of circulars that Hassan issued a day before aimed at organizing the election process.
