WFP may suspend aid in Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen
GENEVA: The U.N. food agency is threatening to suspend aid delivery in the areas under control of the Houthi group of Yemen because of fighting, insecurity and interference it its work, the agency said Monday.

The World Food Program said that its "greatest challenge" in Yemen came from "the obstructive and uncooperative role of some of the Houthi leaders in areas under their control."

"Humanitarian workers in Yemen are being denied access to the hungry, aid convoys have been blocked, and local authorities have interfered with food distribution," the WFP said in a statement. "This has to stop."

It added that some rebel leaders have repeatedly obstructed the agency's ability to choose how to distribute the food aid.
