Date: Nov 6, 2018 Source: The Daily Star Parliament to hold legislative session next week: Berri BEIRUT: Speaker Nabih Berri called for a two-day legislative session to be held next week, according to a statement released by his office Monday. Morning and evening sessions will be held Monday, Nov. 12, and Tuesday, Nov. 13, to discuss and endorse draft laws on Parliament’s agenda, the statement said. Parliament’s regular session began in the third week of October and will last until the end of December, though politicians are divided over whether Parliament should convene to legislate before the government is formed. Government formation has been deadlocked since May, with the latest obstacle being the representation of Sunni MPs from outside the Future Movement. Next week's session will be the second legislative session to be held since the government entered caretaker status. Berri convened Parliament last month for a two-day extraordinary session, during which legislators discussed and endorsed various draft laws, including projects related to the CEDRE conference, which France held in April in an effort to bolster international support for Lebanon’s infrastructure and economy.
